Glad the White House is decorated!
This is wrong from a fiscal, religious, and wartime demeanor standpoint. Really.....54 trees??? Enjoy!!

Religious? That's some major reaching there.

I'll give you those...though they're really just one thing, since the objection in both cases is cost...so I'll give you that one.
Religious was just grandstanding though.

no, it is definately not one thing, the wartime demeanor has nothing to do with cost.....it has to do with the fact that soldiers are still dying in foreign coutries and it means that our politicians should show some restraint when it comes to overly characterizing our joys.......
And religion comment was not granstanding to me (i said me, before you go and get all lippy) trees overtly say CHristmas, argue all you want but the tree is no different.....just ironic to me that a Democrat, who preaches separation of church and state overtly puts symbols of Christmas up not once but 54 times......just a bit hypocritical

Oh. In that case I'll only give you the fiscal. Those brave men and women are fighting for our freedom to express joy and celebration. To not do so would be a slap in the face to everyone who fought and is fighting for that and every other freedom.

Here we go again with the petty criticisms. Where to begin?
1. Fiscally irresponsible? How much is the budget to run the White House? One Christmas tree or 50 Christmas trees; neither makes a dent in the overall budget. Direct some of that criticism where it is warranted, on the military contractors out there (remember the new tanks that the military doesn't want but are being built anyway?).
2. Religious? Maybe they are holiday trees? Regardless, a Christmas tree is not a religious symbol. It is a secular symbol (take a look under it on Christmas morning and tell me it's about Christ).
3. Wartime demeanor? Did you stop celebrating holidays for the previous 10 years? Did you cancel the Superbowl after 9/11? Wartime demeanor is ALL about thumping your chest in America. It isn't disrespectful to carry on with life just because a war is on-going.

The problem my CANADIAN friends, no offense, is that this comes from a man who is talking about tightening the belt. Trust me this is less about Obama, and more about the hypocritical nature of our politicians.....you guys in general always like to make this about rep vs dem, but using public funds to house 54 Chrstmas trees in the White House is wrong when you cry poor mouth. Whether it be Bush, Obama, or Clinton for that matter nobody should be doing this on our dimes....I will give you the symbolic piece of Christmas, but do they have 54 menorahs? Just saying......lastly celebrating is one thing but being overindugent is another thing all together. Of couse our troops are defending our right to do this, but the Commander in Chief is not the best example......ask any of the 290 troops families that were killed this year, whether this was what was meant by protecting our freedoms. Just continue making it about not being critical of Obama.....

I fail to see what the fact we're CANADIAN has to do with any of this. Explain that and I'll bother to read the rest.

I am really not trying to be confrontational when it comes to this point, but I never understand why you would consider that you have a "dog in the fight" so to speak. None of your tax dollars are at stake, nor are your soldiers. Of course you can disagree, that is your right, but I never can understand the fascination with American politics....at least from a Canadian point of view, that's all I am getting at.
continue your read, even though I know you read the entire post....
